Foreign intervention opposed in HK
China on Wednesday reiterated its opposition to foreign intervention in Hong Kong's internal affairs after a US envoy's recent remarks on the special administrative region. Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a news briefing that the Chinese government is resolutely opposed to any foreign countries' irresponsible comments on the development of Hong Kong's political system. These are internal affairs of Hong Kong and the internal affairs of China, he said.
Military officials to undergo audit
Military officials will be required to undergo audits before they are promoted or retire, the Central Military Commission said on Tuesday. Military officers who are recommended for regimental commander-level posts or above, those about to retire or those who will be transferred to civilian posts will be audited before leaving their posts, according to the guideline.

He released a video on the Internet, displaying the bedbugs on the sheets and bite marks on his arm.

Satellite launched for disaster relief
A satellite for natural disaster monitoring was launched into orbit at 12:37 pm on Wednesday, Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center announced. The satellite Kuaizhou I, or speedy vessel I, will be used to monitor natural disasters and provide disaster-relief information for its user, the National Remote Sensing Center of China, a public institution under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Power restored after typhoon
Power lines damaged by Typhoon Usagi in Fujian province were repaired on Wednesday, chinanews.com reported. The typhoon triggered strong winds and torrential rain after it made landfall in Guangdong province on Sunday. By Wednesday, 30 fatalities had been confirmed and one person was missing.
