Located in Phoenix New Town, the newly opened Shangri-La Hotel, Tangshan not only brings the first international five-star hotel to this eco-oriented urban area, it also offers an array of fine dining options for visiting guests and local residents.

Complementing the hotel’s design, which combines the classic with contemporary and Chinese elements with Western style elements, the Shangri-La Hotel, Tangshan also offers a variety of dining options, from an international buffet at Café Shang to traditional Jing-Dong dishes, Cantonese specialties and Peking duck at Tang Huang Ge.

The all-day dining restaurant, Café Shang offers a global dining experience, including a mouthwatering buffet featuring Chinese, South East Asian, Japanese, Korean and European with the chefs at the live kitchen stations creating fresh salads, grilled and roasted dishes, seafood dishes, and handmade noodles, as well as desserts. The restaurant prides itself on the quality of its local and authentic imported ingredients.

Seating up to 220 people, Café Shang has a fun, relaxed and trendy atmosphere, which makes it an ideal venue for family gatherings, social activities and casual business meetings.

Chinese restaurant Tang Huang Ge serves the finest in traditional Cantonese cuisine and local specialties, combining authentic taste with stylish presentation and affordable prices. With 10 elegant private dining rooms, whose design combines Chinese tradition with modern fashion, the restaurant is ideal for those wanting some privacy for their gatherings of family or friends or business meetings.

One signature dish in Tang Huang Ge that cannot be missed is the Peking Roast Duck, prepared by chef Yuan Chaoying, who having worked for nearly 40 years in some of the best Peking Roast Duck restaurants such as Quan Ju De, has recreated the dish in his own way while maintaining the essence of tradition.

According to Yuan, the technique he uses for his roast ducks has been passed down from generation to generation for 148 years.

Currently there is an introductory “buy two get one free” special at Tang Huang Ge, and each duck is available at a specially reduced price of138 yuan ($22).

For a relaxed afternoon, the Lobby Lounge offers beautiful views of the gardens and the park beyond through its floor-to-ceiling windows while you enjoy a selection of the finest Chinese and Western premium teas and coffees, along with homemade pastries and cakes. The lounge transforms into a bar in the evening with live entertainment.
