In Tokyo, about 5,000 goldfish are part of new attraction for art lovers. Uniquely shaped tanks and containers are embellished with LED lighting, projection mapping, music and scent, and the exhibition is creating quite a buzz.
More than 50 containers made from plastic and Venetian glass comprise the 14 art pieces holding 30 types of goldfish from all over Japan. The art aquarium is a yearly event produced by artist Hidetomo Kimura, a man obsessed with all things aquatic. He manufactures the artistic fish tanks, produces the dreamy music and even fills the air with a fragrant Japanese incense.
After working as a trader and connoisseur of fish for aquatic displays in his twenties, Kimura began looking into how he could combine his love for art, fish and Japanese traditions.
