Plastic surgery has been deeply rooted in South Korea. Now, one South Korean doctor has taken an entire team from home to bring beauty to China.
Kim In-keun, who studied at the University of Chinese Medicine, said his initiative is to "link South Korean technology in plastic surgery and China's market."
Now, RIA Medical Comestology has a wide customer base in Beijing's Wangjing district, an area where many Koreans live in the Chinese capital.
With more than 20 years of experience in medical practice, Kim said he often recommends concepts of traditional Chinese medicine to his patients.
"I don't believe in going under the knife for every problem. What I recommend is a comprehensive review and design."
The idea comes from the traditional notion of seeking a balance between Yin and Yang. "Beauty from the inside is very important. We may not necessarily use Chinese medicine for all our patients, but our ultimate goal is to seek balance."
The best-selling products at RIA are anti-aging solutions, ranging from supplements, food, lifestyle recommendations and cosmetics.
"We want our costumers to be happy. We want them to look in the mirror and like what they see.
"Beauty comes from confidence within, and happiness of the soul plays a critical role. That to me is the ultimate luxury," says Kim.
