Between China and the United States, the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue influences economic and trade issues as well as other international and regional issues, said an article in the 21st Century Business Herald (excerpts below).
Before the Obama administration implemented its Asia pivot policy and initiated the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement, China basically maintained stable ties with its neighbors.
China's response to the US' new movements is positive. Since China said it wanted to construct a new model of relations between major countries, China has demonstrated a more confident attitude while resolving conflicts in Sino-US relations.
The dialogue gives the US an opportunity to deepen its understanding of the new Chinese leadership's intentions and ambition. China is a competitor as well as a partner for the US.
The US should realize that global governance is the only way to approach common challenges for a globalized world. That China pays special attention to maintain peace and a stable environment for common development actually complies with the US' national interests.
