China issued more than 1.4 million certificates of various types by the end of November, ranking top of the world, China's top quality authority said on Monday.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine also participated in revising six regulations on certification, accreditation and inspection and annulled two regulations this year to streamline approval procedures and facilitate the development of the industry.

China has about 29,000 institutions and companies involved in inspection and certification, with the industry generating more than 170 billion yuan ($26.5 billion).

The eight regulations that were revised or annulled this year cover certification of energy-saving and low-carbon products, organic products, and approval and management over institutions involved in inspection and certification.

Certification institutes and companies will find business in China easier due to the regulation revision and annulment. For example, they will be able to set up subsidiaries in China and contract overseas certification without prior approval from authorities, according to Dong Lequn, deputy director of China's Certification and Accreditation Administration.
