Foreign Minister Wang Yi will travel to India this week to exchange views on the preparation works of the upcoming G20 summit and the BRICS summit, foreign spokeswoman Hua Chunying said on Tuesday.

As two of the world's biggest developing countries, China and India will host G20 Hangzhou Summit and BRICS Leaders meeting in September and October respectively. Wang's trip to India is expected to build consensus to ensure successful summits, Hua said.

After the mutual visits of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Sino-Indian relations have grown rapidly, she said, adding that the bilateral cooperation between China and India not only benefits two countries' people, but could also help to boost the regional and world stability.

Wang will also seek to carry out various consensus reached by both leaders and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas, thus promoting the further development of ties, she said.

According to information released by the foreign ministry on Friday, Wang will visit Kenya, Uganda and India from August 9 to 14.
