Shanxi Museum is premiering more then 180 excavated artifacts dating back more than 3,000 years to recreate a previously unknown kingdom.

The Ba Kingdom from the Western Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century-771BC), which has no record in historical archives, came to light with the discovery of Dahekou Cemetery in Shanxi province. Findings include China’s earliest lacquer wood barrels and unique funeral practices.

Unveiled on Aug 28, weapons, porcelains, bronze ware and other relics from the 2010 excavation will be on show to piece together the Ba Kingdom’s birth and history.

The exhibition ends on Nov 11.
