A suspected food poisoning sickened 51 children Wednesday in a private kindergarten in Guiyang, capital city of southwest China's Guizhou province, local authorities said.
Of the total, 46 children have been discharged from hospital as of 1:00 a.m. Thursday, with the remaining five still being treated in hospital.
The owner of the Chunfeng Kindergarten, which located in Yunyan District of the city, has been held by police along with other relevant personnel, the district's publicity authorities said.
The 51 children were immediately sent to the People's Hospital of Guizhou Province in the city after they developed such symptoms as dizziness or vomiting at around 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, the local publicity authorties said.
Medical workers from the People's Hospital said the five kids who remained hospitalized were in stable condition.
Investigation is under way for the cause of the incident.
