JAKARTA - Malaysia's No 1 men's singles player Lee Chong Wei easily won the final match against German player March Zwiebler in two straight games ended 21-15, 21-14 on Sunday, adding his championship record in the tournament to five times.
German non-seeded player Zwiebler was apparently no match to Lee Chong Wei, the champions of Indonesian Open super series tournaments in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011 as the Malaysian player dominated the final match that lasted 40 minutes.
"I hope I'll come back here next year. For the next tournaments I would focus on the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and, hopefully, I can still perform in the next 2016 Olympic Games," Chong Wei told a press conference after the match. He received $52,500 of reward for his win in the tournament.
Though 30-year-old Lee Chong Wei had considered retirement after London Olympics, he is still aiming at the gold medal in 2014 Asian Games to be held in Incheon, South Korea, to gloriously end his remarkable badminton career.
Lee Chong Wei will take part in the upcoming Singapore Open scheduled from June 18-23 in Singapore.
