A-Mei-zing June

Taiwan pop diva Chang Hui-mei, also known as "A-Mei", will perform in Beijing in June. It's part of her AMeiZing World Tour Concert, which started in September in celebration of her 15 years in show business. The tour covers more than 36 cities at home and abroad, including London and Sydney. Chang has won numerous awards and is the only singer nominated by Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards as Best Mandarin Female Singer 11 times.

Tilting at windmills

Musical fans will be treated to Man of La Mancha, which will be staged in Beijing soon. Produced by Hu Xiaoqing, who also directed the Chinese version of the musical Mamma Mia, the show is in English, with Chinese subtitles. It's a play within a play, telling the story of the knight Don Quixote and his fellow prisoners. The original 1965 Broadway production won The Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Theater in the United States five times. The principal song, The Impossible Dream, is very popular and sang by various famous singers.

Folk toys exhibition

To celebrate China's Cultural Heritage Day and Children's Day in June, the National Art Museum of China has opened a Chinese folk toys exhibition. The museum has more than 6,000 folk toys and nearly 370 of them are displayed. For example, fish-shaped pillow for kids, clay figurines of traditional Peking Opera characters and rag dolls.
