The Third Annual Summer Garden Party was held in the Diplomatic Residence Compound of Beijing on Aug 18. Ambassadors, diplomats, and their families from over 60 countries, as well as delegations from international organizations and news agencies were all at the party.

Along the edges of the lawn were many stalls, set up by embassies in China to promote their culture and tourism, and by residents of the DRC to sell knick-knacks and unused household goods. Hair salons, language centers, duty-free shops, the China Daily newspaper, and other enterprises also set up booths at the party.
