The following are some popular routes in spring offered by Tuniu.com, from Beijing:

Rafting past flowers

The five-day journey begins in Guilin, where tourists can trek to Daxu ancient town to visit a workshop on primitive bamboo weaving and straw-sandal making. Rafting on the Lijiang River and viewing masses of rape flowers stretching across the Yangshuo Shilihualang, Silver Cave, which is Guilin's biggest karst landscape, the tier-upon-tier Longji rice terraces and Guilin's landmark Elephant Trunk Hill are other attractions. Price: 2,560 yuan.

Five days in Jiangxi

Tourists will see rape flowers across Jiangling terrace as far as the eye can see in Wuyuan village, which has been named one of the most beautiful villages in China, and appreciate Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) architecture and tea culture at Xiaoqi village. They will also be led to the Sanqing Mountain scenic spot and enjoy ancient plants, springs, waterfalls and a sea of clouds. The tour also explores Jingdezhen, China's "porcelain capital". Price: 1,811 yuan.

Netherlands and Germany

The nine-day journey will take tourists to Keukenhof Garden, which looks like a lush painting filled with tulips, daffodils and hyacinths in spring. Selexyz Dominicanen-a church converted into a bookstore-featuring a lofty dome, solemn hall, cross-shaped coffee tables and 14th-century frescoes, and picturesque Heidelberg-with its relic of an ancient royal palace-will take tourists' breath away. Other attractions include Giethoorn, a green version of Venice, and Mainau Island, a land of idyllic beauty in the middle of a lake. Price: 12,499 yuan.
