Destinations for diagnoses and treatments

The United States

Cutting-edge medical equipment and technology have made the country a darling among the rich. The States stands out for its genetic screening and tumor treatments. Five leading US medical facilities partnered with China Southern Airlines in 2014 to launch tourism products targeting Chinese, featuring disease prevention and health checkups.

Japan

The country is most famous for early-stage cancer screening. Examinations take two or three days. Tourists can spend roughly five days getting health checks while sightseeing, shopping and enjoying local hot springs and food. Japan offers medical visas to foreigners that allow them to stay up to six months.

South Korea

The country is popular among Chinese seeking plastic surgery. Many visit to get double-folded eyelids, manicured jawbones and nose jobs. The country has built a Chinese-language website to court medical tourists. It'll also pilot a yearlong program in which foreign tourists could claim bigger tax returns from April, media report.

Germany

Hamburg, Munich and Dusseldorf all have superb medical resources, especially in the fields of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, tumors and sports injuries. The country offers medical visas. Hotels offer patients' families long-stay suites.

Singapore

The fact Chinese is a major language of Asia's most prosperous city-state makes it ideal for visitors from the Chinese mainland. Many Singaporean hospitals employ Chinese doctors and interpreters.
