The Sound Stage: NAOHAI

Growing up is hard, and few bands are as aware of that fact as Naohai. When you are a child, the world is your innocent fantasy, but when adolescene comes your dreams fall apart one piece at a time. Naturally you feel angry and disappointed, and also anxious about the unknown future. Naohai, which roughly translates to "Noisy Sea," is a hot Shanghai band that shows you the noisy sea of their young minds.

Naohai expresses their crushed youthful hopes through harsh, angular post-punk sounds, but within the noise is a glimmer of hope - sweet notes sung through a soft voice, or plucked meticulously on guitar while the bass hums and the drums pound along. While still unknown to most, bands like Naohai determine the future.
