KABUL - Three Afghans were injured in a bomb attack in central Kabul on Monday, a witness and officials said.

"A sticky bomb attached to a civilian vehicle detonated and injured three persons aboard the car," Najib Danish, deputy spokesperson of Interior Ministry, twitted.

Unofficial sources said that the car belongs to an Afghan Defense Ministry official.

"The stricken vehicle was parked when the blast occurred on the roadside in Micrrayan Duwum, around Ahmad Shah Massoud Square, where the Afghan Supreme Court and US Embassy are located," witness Abdul Shah told Xinhua.

"The blast which occurred roughly at 9:00 am (0430 GMT) damaged the vehicle and the injured were shifted by security forces to nearby military hospital," he said.

Security forces have cordoned off the area for precautionary measures and the incident caused a traffic jam in the area during the morning rush hour, Shah added.

Taliban militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since early April when the militant group launched its annual rebel offensive in different areas of the country.
