China and Cambodia held a number of activities, including a book exhibition and media forum, in Phnom Penh on Monday ahead of President Xi Jinping's state visit.

The book exhibition, co-hosted by China's State Council Information Office and Chinese embassy to Cambodia, displayed more than 1,000 books, including Xi Jinping: the Governance of China, in different languages including Chinese, Cambodian, English and French.

Representatives of more than ten media organizations from both countries also attended a media forum in Phnom Penh, during which they discussed issues such as China-Cambodia media cooperation and new media development.

The two sides will also sign cooperative documents over the setting of a Chinese book center in Phnom Penh, and China will donate school items such as books to a primary school in Phnom Penh.

The events are warm-ups ahead of President Xi Jinping's state visit to Cambodia on Thursday. It will be Xi's first visit to the country since becoming China's leader in late 2012.

Apart from Cambodia, Xi will also visit Bangladesh and then travel to India to attend the BRICS summit at the weekend.
