Wolf Warriors, a directorial debut of action star Wu Jing, was not only a dark horse at the box office and but also fetched him a award for Best Directorial Debut and good reviews.
In his emotional acceptance speech, which lasted more than five minutes, Wu recalled his hardships during the process of filming.
"There are no boundaries for me when I film. If I succeed, I'm a hero. If I fail, I'm a martyr. It's been a hard road, but I'm very lucky in that I had friends and family to help me along the way. College students gave me the recognition, and I thank you all for that," said Wu.
