Larger proportion of GDP spent on education

BEIJING -- Nationwide education expenditure amounted to 3.93 percent of China's 2011 GDP, up 0.28 percentage points from 2010, a Ministry of Education statement said Friday.
The 2011 GDP in China was 47.3 trillion yuan ($7.52 trillion), the ministry said.
According to the ministry, in 2011, central and local governments at all levels budgeted 1.68 trillion yuan in education, up 24.57 percent from 2010.
As much as 326.9 billion yuan was from central finance, 28.31 percent higher than in 2010.
