Hyundai Motor Group (China) Ltd will start a recall of its imported Veloster cars in the Chinese mainland from Jan 15, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced Friday.
The recall involves two batches of the model sold in the Chinese mainland: 2,408 units produced between April 13, 2011 and Feb 25, 2012, and 456 units produced between Nov 1, 2011 and April 17, 2012, People.com.cn reported China's quality watchdog as saying.
The Veloster cars are manufactured in Hyundai's Korean plants and shipped to the Chinese mainland. Prior to this recall, Hyundai Motor Group recalled 13,500 Velosters in North America in December, according to People.com.cn.
China initiated a recall system in 2004. Privately owned Chinese auto brands, including Geely and Great Wall, have made recalls under the supervision of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
