The number of limited partners in the Chinese venture capital and private equity industry totaled 7,511 by the end of 2012, and the structure of Chinese limited partnerships will improve as they benefit from relaxed policy requirements for institutional investors.
These were the conclusions of a report from Zero2IPO Group on Jan 10.
The report said that 6,323 of the limited partnerships, or 84.2 percent, were Chinese, while 1,134 were foreign limited partnerships.
Of the 6,134 limited partnerships that revealed the size of their investible funds, the amount from foreign limited partnerships totaled $637.9 billion, or 79 percent.
Insurance and fund management companies have been entering the Chinese venture capital and private equity market since the China Insurance Regulatory Commission and China Securities Regulatory Commission enacted policies allowing the moves.
