Coach Inc, the United States-based fashion brand, achieved very strong results in China for its second fiscal quarter ended Dec 29 with total sales growing 40 percent year-on-year, the company said on Wednesday.
The brand's like-for-like sales increased at a double-digit rate in the country. Thirteen new locations were opened bringing the total stores to 117 in China during the period.
"Our international growth remained robust, led by China, which is on course to generate at least $400 million in sales this year," said Lew Frankfort, chairman and CEO of Coach.
Total sales of the company were $1.5 billion for the quarter, up 4 percent year-on-year.
The North American market did not perform as well as China. Total North American sales increased 1 percent to $1.08 billion from $1.07 billion in 2011, with comparable store sales down 2 percent for the quarter.
