China's color TV market saw sales at 43 million sets in 2012, about 20 percent of the world's total, Beijing All View Consulting Ltd Corp said in a news briefing on Wednesday.
Six major domestic manufacturers saw shipments reach 57 million sets in 2012, while shipments of Japanese brands totaled 45 million.
The combination of domestic brands with domestic panels has allowed the industry to achieve the breakthrough results.
Domestic makers occupied about 80 percent of the Chinese market and outperformed Japanese brands in sales, shipments and panel supply, which shows that Chinese color TV makers have established themselves in the global market, the report said.
