SpiceJet, an Indian low-cost airline, said on Tuesday it will launch flights between Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, and New Delhi, on Feb 9, in a foray into the Chinese market.
The only Indian carrier to connect Guangzhou with India, SpiceJet will fly the route four days a week with 189-seater Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft.
"The service reiterates growing economic interest between two of the world's largest economies," said Neil Mills, CEO of the company.
SpiceJet said it is launching the flights because Guangzhou is the center of education, culture and communication in southern China, as well as one of the three-largest exhibition cities in China. It is also a leading manufacturing and economic region of China and one of the most important centers of foreign commerce, it added.
