Chinese telecom main revenues up 6.8% in Jan

BEIJING - China's telecom sector registered main business revenues of 87.2 billion yuan ($13.84 billion) in January, up 6.8 percent from a year earlier, official data showed Monday.
The sector posted an increase of 9.1 percent in total business volume to 111.16 billion yuan, according to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Meanwhile, the number of mobile phone users rose 9.96 million from a month earlier to 1.12 billion by the end of January, according to the MIIT.
The number of Internet broadband users rose 2.19 million to 177.37 million, while 3G users rose 13.08 million to 245.88 million.
