BEIJING - Japanese carmaker Suzuki Motor Corp will recall 13,227 Jimny vehicles in China to fix flaws that may pose safety risks, China's consumer quality watchdog said on Tuesday.

The recall, set to begin on Feb 28, will involve imported Jimny vehicles manufactured between Feb 13, 2007 and Jan 31, 2013, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in a statement on its website.

Wobbly tires may cause the vehicles' front suspension or hanger bracket to shake, which may also cause the steering wheel to vibrate and therefore violate safety standards, the statement said.

The automaker will replace faulty parts in vehicles produced before March 27, 2009 and add a component to others to reduce shaking.

Starting from August 28, the automaker will install a new component in all affected vehicles to avoid wobbly transmissions.
