Guangzhou citizen wins 108m yuan lottery jackpot

A person in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, won a record 108.6 million yuan ($17.47 million) on March 5 with a 40 yuan ticket of Union Lotto, a Chinese lottery.
The previous record prize of Union Lotto in the city, which was 96.68 million yuan, was set in 2009, according to the Guangdong Welfare Lottery Distribution Center.
The record in Guangdong of 168 million yuan was set in Zhanjiang city in December 2012.
