In 2012, Yingli Solar had a net loss of about $490 million. It is reported that Yingli has recently signed a cooperation deal with another domestic firm, and that it seeks projects with power stations and companies in material supply and manufacturing. But it's estimated Yingli will still post a loss this year, due to high operating and financing costs.
Trina Solar posted a loss of almost 270 million dollars in 2012, much wider than the previous year. The company has changed its focus on improving research and development, and developed new types of photovoltaic components. Insiders estimate with higher prices in 2013, Trina may be able to turn around losses in the latter half of the year.
Lastly, for Canadian Solar suffered a loss of some 100 million dollars in the fourth quarter alone. Insiders say that Canadian Solar has been faring pretty well compared to others, and hasn't faced the same amount of difficulties in getting new loans. The company is also planning to construct 15 PV power stations together with a US solar company.
