BEIJING - Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso on Monday vowed to boost trade cooperation with China and invited more Chinese investment to the South American country.
He made the remarks at a breakfast meeting in Beijing with representatives of China's industrial and trade sectors.
Bilateral trade between China and Peru has reached a high level. China was Peru's largest trade partner in 2011, with nearly $13 billion in trade, he said.
There is still much room for improvement, President Humala said, welcoming more Chinese to invest in Peru's mining, new energy, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism and health sectors.
The China-Peru Free Trade Agreement took effect on March 1, 2010. It was the eighth free trade agreement ever launched by China and the second one launched by China in Latin America, after the first one with Chile.
