Qingdao is seeking more cooperative opportunities with Taiwan to boost the development of the mainland city's marine economy.

The city in East China's Shandong province is promoting its research and business in marine-related sectors in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, on Monday and Tuesday.

The city's promotion got a positive response from Taiwan entrepreneurs, who are willing to investigate opportunities in the near future in Qingdao.

Qingdao is one of the core parts in the Shandong peninsula's "blue economic zone", which was integrated into the national development strategy by the State Council in January 2011. The city aims to be a leading marine city in China by building several new economic areas such as West Coast Economic New Zone, Blue Silicon Valley, and Hongdao New Zone.

According to the city's authoritative statistics, to date, a total of 2,309 projects from Taiwan with an investment of over $10.2 billion have been approved in Qingdao. Among more than 3,300 Taiwan businessmen living in Qingdao, 90 percent of them intend to enlarge investment and production in this city.
