The fourth annual US-China CEO and Former Senior Officials' Dialogue co-hosted by the China Center for International Economic Exchanges and US Chamber of Commerce was successfully held in Beijing from June 4-5.
The dialogue brought together entrepreneurs, well-known scholars and many former senior officials from the two nations to discuss and exchange views on the prospects of China-US commercial partnership, current trade and investment policies, two-way investment on infrastructure, the construction of a free trade area and so on.
During the two-day dialogue, representatives from both sides advised a feasibility study to build a FTA between China and the US.
A joint statement was issued after the dialogue, concluding the results and consensus made by both sides. The suggestions include removing unreasonable export restrictions on high-tech products, simplifying the examination procedure for foreign investment, advocating for fair treatment of companies from the other country, building a more open system of global trade to contain protectionism and reduce non-tariff barriers, and avoiding politicizing trade and investment.
Zeng Peiyan, chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges and a former China's vice-premier, and President of US Chamber of Commerce Thomas Donohue also attended the dialogue.
