A former Nokia Corp senior manager is set to join Huawei Technologies Co Ltd.
Colin Giles, who was executive vice-president of Finnish-based Nokia Corp, will assume a management position in Huawei Devices, a Huawei subsidiary, a Huawei official, who requested anonymity, confirmed to China Daily on Thursday.
However, the official did not disclose the specific responsibilities that Giles is going to shoulder. Media reports suggest that the Australia-born Giles will take charge of global sales as he had been at Nokia before leaving in 2012.
He spent almost 20 years working in Nokia, and had been Nokia China president. Under his helm, Nokia emerged as the best-selling mobile phone in China and grabbed more than 200 million users in the country.
Giles is said to be "a man with sound knowledge of China" and his wife is from Taiwan.
