WASHINGTON - The upcoming China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) will be an important platform for pushing forward vision of the leaders of both countries, a US official said on Monday.
In a briefing organized by the US State Department and Treasury Department, the official said under the condition of anonymity that the fifth round of S&ED, set to take place in Washington DC this week, will be a "key mechanism" for putting into practice the vision of presidents of the two countries.
As the meeting is scheduled just a month after the June summit in the US state of California between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Barack Obama, much of the S&ED will be "following on those important discussions" and provide important opportunity for both sides to deepen bilateral dialogues, the official added.
He also said the US officials are ready for quite a bit of dialogue with their Chinese counterparts, and there are a broad range of areas where the two countries are going to cooperate.
