Shanghai -- The Shanghai Airport Authority's passenger and cargo throughput continued to climb in 2012, scoring a record-high for passenger throughput, the company said Tuesday.
Combined passenger throughput in two of the company's airports, Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport, rose 5.56 percent year on year to 78.70 million last year, nearly triple that of a decade ago, a spokesperson with the Shanghai Airport Authority said.
Meanwhile, cargo throughput increased to 3.38 million tons, also triple the volume in 2003.
The company expects to raise its passenger and cargo throughput to 100 million and 5.50 million tons, respectively, in 2015.
