A female millionaire has received media attention because she worked as a street cleaner for low pay.
The Wuhan Evening News reported on Wednesday that Yu Youzhen, 53, worked as a cleaner in a street in the Wuchang district of Wuhan, capital of Hubei province.
Yu owns 10 homes, and has another seven under construction. The total value of her homes is more than 10 million yuan ($1.6 million), the report said.
Yu’s colleagues said she was very hardworking in her position. She got a monthly salary of only 1,420 yuan for the job.
“I want to set an example to my son and daughter, to show them that people should not stay home and rely on their existing wealth,” said Yu.
