Police arrested a man who kidnapped a woman and held her at knifepoint in Beijing on Thursday morning, rescuing the victim.
Beijing Public Security Bureau received a report at about 10:20 am from residents saying the man had kidnapped the woman in the Fengtai district.
Police sent to the scene said the man was holding a knife to the woman's neck and appeared to be angry.
At about 11:45 am, officers arrested the man and released the hostage, according to a micro blog published by the bureau.
A preliminary investigation showed the arrested man might be in love with the woman, and had met her through the Internet.
The investigation is continuing, police added.
