An official who was found to own 31 houses in Central China's Henan province has been arrested.
Zhai Zhenfeng, former director of the housing administration bureau in the Erqi district of Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province, was arrested on Sunday night, the People's Daily reported.
The Zhengzhou city's procuratorate found that Zhai's family owns a total of 31 houses, of which seven were sold after netizens exposed the family's assets on Dec 26.
Additionally, Zhai misappropriated 30 million yuan ($4.82 million) of public funds, but the money has been recovered with interest.
Zhai has also violated the country's family-planning policy because he has two children, said the report.
Zhai also confessed that he took bribes twice with a total value of 70,000 yuan, the report said. The bribes have been confiscated, it added.
