The list with the names of the 978 members of the new committee was approved on Monday by the standing committee of the CPPCC Guangdong provincial committee.
Chow and Sally Wu, a news anchor of Hong Kong-based Phoenix TV who has long served as a member of the CPPCC provincial committee, are in the special invitations category.
Hong Kong star Kent Tong, who has also been a member of the CPPCC provincial committee for a long time, is in the returned from overseas category.
The first session of the new committee is scheduled to convene in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong, between Jan 23 and Jan 28.
