BEIJING - A senior Chinese official Tuesday urged more efforts to fight against illegal publications, obscene Internet content and piracy to create a sound social and cultural environment.
Liu Qibao, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, recognized the achievements made by law enforcement departments across the country in the crackdown in past years.
Despite the achievements, law enforcers should be aware of the complicated reality they are facing in combatting illegal publications, porn on the Internet and copyrights infringement, Liu said, adding that crackdowns and regular supervision should be intensified for the long term.
