BEIJING - National broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) will on Wednesday evening air a documentary on self-immolations that have occurred in northwest China's Tibetan-inhabited areas.
According to a statement, the documentary centers on overseas "Tibet independence" forces and self-immolations that have occurred in Gansu province.
The statement said the program was created through in-depth research and interviews conducted by CCTV reporters in the areas where the incidents occurred.
The program, which will be broadcast at 8:35 pm Wednesday (12:35 GMT) on English-language channel CCTV-9, is intended to "offer truths about self-immolation incidents that have occurred in the Gannan Tibetan autonomous prefecture in Gansu," according to the statement.
The documentary will also be aired on CCTV's French, Spanish, Arabic and Russian channels on Wednesday and Thursday, the statement said.
The Chinese-language version of the documentary was broadcast on Monday.
