The county- and district-level disciplinary watchdog in Hunan province used pinhole spy cameras to make videos of officials sleeping or playing computer games at work.
In the Furong district of Changsha, capital of Hunan province, videos of officials goofing off on the job were shown at a government meeting after the Spring Festival holiday, which ended Feb 15, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Also shown were videos of official vehicles parked outside bath centers and officials driving while drunk.
The district authority warned at the meeting that any officials who breached the code of conduct for officials will be punished.
Using secret cameras to film officials' misconduct in office was used by disciplinary watchdogs in Ningxiang county in Changsha and Liuyang city in the province, the report said.
The disciplinary watchdog in Ningxiang county also publicly solicits video clips of officials' misconduct in office and has asked local TV stations to help make the video clips, the report said.
