A flight traveling from Hefei, capital of Anhui province, was forced to make an emergency landing at Nanchang Changbei International Airport on Thursday, after it received an anonymous phone call making threats of explosives.

The Shenzhen-bound Shenzhen Airlines flight took off from the Hefei Luogang International Airport at six minutes past midnight.

Shortly after take-off, the airport received an anonymous phone call claiming there were explosives on the flight, Shenzhen Airlines said in its official micro blog.

The flight was ordered by the airline to make an emergency landing at the nearest airport in Nanchang.

The Nanchang-based Jiangnan City Daily said security checks were conducted on all passengers and luggage, but no explosives were found.

The paper quoted passengers as saying that the airline told them the flight was cancelled at around 2:30 am.

Shenzhen Airlines said police are investigating the case.
