China's top legislator returns to Beijing

BEIJING - Top legislator Wu Bangguo returned to Beijing on Friday after attending a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the promulgation of the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region and related activities.
The Basic Law of the Macao SAR was promulgated on March 31, 1993 and took effect on Dec 20, 1999, when the region returned to China. The law has acted as the cornerstone of the region's political and legal systems.
During his visit, Wu also attended the opening of a gallery commemorating Macao SAR's Basic Law and the release of a new publication concerning Macao's historical changes.
