The municipal committee of the Communist Party of China in Chongqing municipality appointed Long Hua as the Party chief of the municipality's Beibei district, months after the district's former Party chief was sacked in a sex video scandal.
Long, former deputy Party chief of Beibei district and head of the district government, was appointed as the district's Party chief on March, the district government announced on its website.
The decision came three months after the district's former Party chief Lei Zhengfu appeared in a sex video scandal that also led to the dismissal of 10 other local officials.
According to Chongqing police, the scandal was plotted by a criminal ring that hired women to seduce those officials and then secretly filmed videos for extortion.
The criminal ring was busted in January and several key members in the ring have been arrested or placed under house arrest.
The sex video of Lei Zhengfu and a young woman was posted online in November by a Beijing freelance blogger and whistle-blower, and Lei was sacked less than three days later.
