A Chinese and English language journal circulated in Panyu Prison in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, and written by Chinese and foreign inmates, marks its first anniversary on Wednesday.
The monthly publication includes one page of prison news and three pages of articles contributed by inmates, reported Guangzhou Daily.
Some foreign inmates help with the editorial content and the translation is mainly done by a Chinese inmate, a former customs official.
The prison has hired many people with English academic backgrounds in recent years and its officers have received English training.
The prison has housed more than 100 foreign inmates since 2009, and many have learned oral and written Chinese, said Guangzhou Daily.
