At least 11 people died when a ferryboat capsized off a dock in Nanping, Fujian province, local authorities said on Thursday.
The ferry was heading to the dock in Xiadao town, Nanping, on Wednesday morning, when the accident happened.
Severe weather is said to be the reason behind the accident. Strong winds, coupled with hails, turned the ferry upside down.
According to the publicity department of Nanping, the shipwreck left 11 dead and four missing.
Rescue operations are still under way. The exact number of missing passengers is being investigated.
