Seven people were killed after a building under construction collapsed on Thursday night in Tongcheng, Anhui province, State broadcaster CCTV reported.
One person was still trapped in the debris at about 2 pm on Friday, the report said.
CCTV said the workers were pouring concrete when the building, along with the scaffolding on which the workers were standing, collapsed, trapping 14 of them.
Thirteen people were dug out, but seven of them were dead.
Rescuers were trying to find the one person still trapped, but the rescue efforts were slowed by the amount of debris on the site.
Local authorities are investigating the accident.
