The girlfriend of Zhou Kehua, a serial killer who was killed by police in Chongqing last August, was sentenced on Friday to five years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan ($1,600) at the city's Shapingba district people's court for sheltering him and concealing his crimes.
Zhang Guiying, Zhou’s girlfriend, said she won’t appeal to a higher court.
According to the district procuratorate, Zhou committed several murders in Chongqing, Hunan and Jiangsu since 2004, including killing an armed police officer in Chongqing in a robbery in 2009, and shooting dead a victim in front of a bank in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, 2011.
The prosecutors said that Zhou always discussed his plans with Zhang before committing his crimes, but she didn’t report them to the police. Zhang also helped Zhou conceal his ill-gotten gains and provided him shelter to avoid punishment, according to the local procuratorate.
