Combatant ships from the South Sea Fleet of the People's Liberation Army navy that are conducting a training mission patrolled on Tuesday the shoal of Zengmu Ansha, the southernmost point of China's territory.

On March 19, the fleet started a large-scale, far-reaching patrol-training mission to the South China Sea and the Western Pacific Ocean.

On waters off the Zengmu Ansha, naval officers and soldiers taking part in the mission held an oath-taking ceremony, pledging to safeguard China’s territorial integrity and marine interests.

The fleet will keep improving its combat capability and strengthening its training to better fulfill its duties, said Jiang Weilie, commander of the South Sea Fleet.
