Prosecutors in Beijing's Xicheng district are reviewing a case in which a foreigner is suspected of sexually assaulting a boy.
This is the first juvenile case involving a foreign suspect that the capital's prosecuting authorities have ever tackled.
The 42-year-old defendant was an English teacher in an educational institute in the city. He was suspected of acting indecently towards the 11-year-old boy many times between October and November in 2012, according to a statement provided by the district's prosecutors.
Authorities said they started investigating the case on Feb 2, but refused to disclose the suspect's nationality and more details.
As per the updated Criminal Procedure Law, the prosecutors have assisted the related embassy in visiting the suspect.
